The NHSC Human Services Addiction Studies associate’s degree curriculum provides the paraprofessional level of competencies needed to become an addiction-helping professional with the potential to transfer to a four-year college. An associate’s degree in addiction studies provides theoretical knowledge about the nature, etiology and treatment of alcohol and other drug issues. The program focuses on science-based addiction education to prepare you for career opportunities in the addiction profession.
Career paths available with an associate’s degree in addiction studies include:
• Human service assistants
• Social work assistants
• Casework aides
• Addictions counselors
*The job outlook is favorable with human services growing faster-than-average by 11 percent through 2024
