The Native American Studies Cultural Honors Cohort is an academic organization under the Native American Studies Department, and is geared towards students who are willing to engage in rigorous scholarship.
To be enrolled you must:
- Complete application form
- Have a 3.0 GPA
- Have transcripts and degree plan
- One letter of recommendation
- One-page essay on why you chose to be an NAS major
- Fill out FAFSA and apply for PELL
- Certificate Degree of Indian Blood
Tuition Assistance and Monthly Stipend
Tuition assistance will be paid for by the NAS department. You will also receive a monthly stipend if you meet these grade requirements:
3.00-3.34 GPA … $800/month
3.40-3.79 GPA … $1,000/month
3.80-4.00 GPA … $1,200/month
Criteria
- Comply with attendance and participation requirements of NAS classes.
- Students must be a full-time NHSC student.
- Students must be an enrolled tribal member.
- After acceptance, must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Conduct research and present it in the form of Poster/Power point Presentation.
- Attend Student Success workshops and NAS-sponsored events.
- Complete monthly activity sheets.
- Must attend Cultural Honor Cohort meetings.
